North Carolina Residence

Located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, this full-scale residential design-build project was completed in 2020, and included complete interior design selections, in coordination with a comprehensive architectural and renovation process. Buildsense provided the general contracting and architecture. The home was inspired by a playful, comfortable take on Colonial simplicity. Highlights include multiple handmade wallpapers, including a textured recycled newsprint in the main stair hall. This project was featured on Frederic Magazine in November 2022.

Concrete countertops and slab front kitchen cabinetry create a casual and relaxed yet polished design feel. The cabinetry and walls are painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17.

Bright chairs add a kid-friend pop of color to a kitchen breakfast area.

The living room design features a prominent window seat that looks over the backyard. A large jute rug grounds and warms the space. The walls and cabinetry are painted in Farrow & Ball Slipper Satin No.2004. The vintage red center coffee table is ceramic top on an iron base. Fabrics are textural, casual and cozy, in keeping with the design intent.

The living room features a wall-hung shelving system by Vitsoe. The living room sofa is the Dune Da Bomb sofa, clad a wool-linen blend by Rogers & Goffigon.

This corner along the living room’s window seat utilizes the Grange Chairs by Soane Britain, flanking an iconic Knoll Saarinen Dining Table.

The home’s stair hall features an arts & crafts inspired baluster design, and a craft-oriented, Hot Off The Press wallcovering by Weitzner, which is created from recycled newspaper.
